Salary: £62,100 per year

About:
A major Passenger Transport / Railway Engineering organisation is seeking Control Centre Staff to operate a rail / signalling Control Centre.

About the role:
As Control Centre Controller you will be reporting to the Control Centre Duty Manager. This role will be working in a 24/7 environment on a shift pattern basis.

Key accountabilities: –
– Supervise Train Movements
– Take operational decisions as appropriate
– Incident Management
– Supervision of all staff entering and exiting both depots
– Ensuring health and safety standards are met
– Deputing for the Control Centre Supervisor
– Maintaining balanced headways in accordance with approved service schedules
– Controlling service build ups and gaps in the scheduled service
– Controlling access to mainline by maintenance staff during automatic hours
– Controlling automatic and manual train movements
– Monitoring platforms to ensure that passenger safety is not compromised
– Producing reports and recommending appropriate action where necessary on service delays, incidents and equipment failures both routinely and at the request of Management
– Provide regular and accurate information to staff and passengers of events or activities as they affect the service
– Complete a log of all events on both mainline and depot activities.
– Manage all apsects of rail service operation including monitoring of the CCTV’s responding to Passenger Alarms
– Supervision of engineering vehicles during Engineering Hours
– Controlling the radio network.
– Isolation and protection of areas within the depots, control of relevant permits to enable maintenance works to be undertaken on tracks signalling and other plant
– Dealing with vehicle failures

Person specification
– Ideally you will have atleast two years experience working in a Railway Control Room
– Knowledge of current and forcasted service levels, performance targets and the franchise agreement
– The ability to operate different and complex computerised control systems
– Experience of planning and performance management
– Incident management
