Control Room Dispatcher

The company is one of the UK’s largest providers of Non-Emergency Patient Transport Services (NEPTS) and operates contracts throughout the UK with some 650 vehicles, 1200 staff and over 1.5 million patient journeys a year.

Our control room provides the Health Community with a centralised ambulance control centre operation that receives and processes requests for NEPTS journeys for the entire region. Requests for transport are made from patients and healthcare professionals directly to this control room and pass through eligibility criteria, before being registered on our booking system.

Those approved journey requests are then planned into itineraries for our ambulance care assistants across the region who undertake the journeys. Dispatchers have a critical role within the operation – to manage resources on day and assign patient journeys in line with key performance indicators and budgetary requirements. Staff fulfilling this role will have a direct impact on ensuring that we provide the highest quality service at all times, as well as meeting contractual obligations.

Applicants should have the ability to communicate with a range of clients and staff, therefore influencing and negotiation skills are essential in this role. You will be organised, comfortable with multi-tasking and have no problem adapting to changing demands at short notice. Experience in a control room setting is desirable for this role.

Our Leicester control room functions 24 hours a day, 365 days per year, and applicants must be prepared to work a rotating shift pattern – Further details on shifts can be discussed during interview.
