The Parcel System Programme is critical to the future success of Royal Mail Group. Its objective is to deliver the Royal Mail Parcels Strategy and we are investing in products, IT and the Operation to achieve this. This is a great opportunity to work at the very heart of one of Royal Mail’s strategic transformation initiatives and is integral to the successful delivery of the Royal Mail Parcels Business Vision.
About the role:
We are looking for a business focused Senior Project Manager to work within a large logistics organisation. The position will take full accountability for a complex project within a large scale transformation programme in overseeing everything from production through to issuance for new internal and external customer-facing analytics.
Candidates will have experience of working on the rollout of strategic new business intelligence, analytics and datawarehouse developments and subsequent launch to both internal and external end users, including senior executives and operational front line staff.
The specific responsibilities of the Senior Project Manager will include:
*Defining and creating a full detailed WBS of deliverables and critical path dependencies through the full lifecycle of the project;
*Proactively monitoring its overall progress, resolving issues and initiating corrective action as appropriate;
*Reporting on project progress;
*Managing the overall project budget;
*Preparing papers and quality assuring papers on specific issues related to the project for presentation to the Programme Board;
*Directing and motivating matrix-managed project team resource including business-as-usual resources;
*Managing third-party contributions to the project;
*Managing the project risks, issues and dependencies, including the development of contingency plans;
*Managing internal and external stakeholders;
Requirements of the role:
*Full sole accountability for the business case and project budgets of at least two projects in excess of £10m;
*Management of the full lifecycle of at least three complex business intelligence projects in excess of 18 months duration;
*Ability to review, challenge and quality assure outputs from internal and external programme delivery team members and stakeholders.
The role is an initial 24 month fixed term contract but carries a fantastic opportunity to potentially become a permanent member of staff in a very prestigious organisation.
About You:
*Project Management qualification e.g. MSP, Prince 2, APMP, PMP or PMI
*Strong experience in managing business related change. While experience of postal logistics would be an advantage, it is not essential, however the successful candidate would be expected to develop knowledge of this area
*Knowledge and experience of working to Agile/Lean Values, Principles and Practices
*Awareness of best practices in Product Management, Architecture/Design, Testing and DevOps which support Agile/Lean
Salary & Benefits: c£84,000 (dependent on experience), plus potential 18% bonus, £5,500 car allowance, full family health care and 27.5 days annual leave.
