We are looking for a Technical Applications Support Analyst to join us here in Wissington. The core focus of this role is to maintain and support the day to day functionality of two business critical IT applications for British Sugar.

You will be responsible for maintaining, documenting and supporting the development of both applications whilst ensuring system availability.

This is a highly detail focussed role requiring drive and tenacity to get to the root of problems, requiring an approachable personality who is willing to help others.

The successful candidate will ideally have a strong background in science with an interest in IT. This is because there is the requirement to understand the technical aspects of sugar manufacturing, which is very science based and then reflect that knowledge within an IT environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Maintain, document and support the development of two business critical application (LIMS and Factory Technical Reporting) under the direction of the Technical Applications Manager
Monitor, document and support system changes in VBA applications
Ensure systems stability and manage structures to minimise failure and ensure system availability
Support the Technical Applications Manager in training on FTR, LIMS and MS Office
The Ideal candidate will have A-levels or equivalent in Mathematics and Science (preferably chemistry) and have an aptitude for application in IT to problem solving.

What are we looking for?

Knowledge and understanding of application of science in industry
Knowledge of MS Office applications
Visual Basic, HTML language
CCS and SQL skils would be advantageous
Prepared to challenge where necessary and proopose innovative ideas
Able to provide advice and data to support decision making whilst working under pressure and to tight deadlines
Ability to solve complex problems in a logical manner
Able to take ideas from concept to deployment
Effective at communicating to individuals across all levels within the business and also in a group environment
Able to handle large data sets and evaluate it in a timely manner
High level of attention to detail
Continually strives to improve processes
Thrives working in a varied role within a busy team
Works collaboratively across functions with an approachable attitude
