Quantity Surveyor

Fawkes and Reece are currently assisting a well established Main Contractor in their search for a Quantity Surveyor to join the team on site in Southwater, near Horsham. The contractor is one which specialises in the industrial sector, with steel framed projects valuing anywhere up to £48 mil. They currently turn over circa £120mil per annum and their head office is in the Midlands. The project is a £10mil industrial unit, on a JCT form of contract which is due to go live in the next few months. The project will have a programme of circa 2 years and you will then go on to various others across the South Coast.

As Quantity Surveyor, your duties will include but not be limited to:

• Financial reporting and control
• Continually monitor and review, in detail costs and values of the works at hand.
• Commercial forecasting
• Ensure that the financial reports are produced and submitted in line with the company’s reporting timetable.
• Attend regular review and commercial control meetings.
• Liaise closely with the Design and Project Management leads to ensure cross control
• Management of Risk
• Management of contract variations
• Contract Review and production Meetings
• Main Contract and External Valuations and Final Accounts
• Management of Consultants and Subcontractors
• Feedback to the Commercial manager of any price elements or unit prices which are considered to be seriously at variance with cost, giving details of shortfall.
• Provide constructive comments on improving efficiency

The ideal Quantity Surveyor will have:

• A construction related degree/equivalent qualification
• Experience running industrial projects
• Live within an hours commute of Horsham
