Strategy Project Manager (NHS)

Contract 9 months | Up to £540 per day – Outside IR35
Hybrid – occasional requirement for attending event/site in Newark or Mansfield

We are looking for a Strategy Project Manager who has experience of public engagement and consultation exercises. It is anticipated that this would be a 6-12-month assignment and it must be noted that travel to the Newark area and/or face to face meetings with the public will be required.

• This role is responsible for setting up, management and delivery of the Strategy project within the organisation’s transformation programme
• The post holder will be the CCG commissioning lead for the Strategy project
• The post holder will work closely with secondary care providers, community service providers, GP practices and other health and social care providers/commissioners to support implementation of service change
• The role will ensure optimum use of resources, including financial and activity modelling and monitoring

Skills & Requirements

• Agile, Prince 2, SDLC, MS Office
• Must understand the background and aims of current healthcare policies and appreciate the implications of this on engagement
• Should have an appreciation of the relationship between the Department of Health, NHS England and individual provider and commissioning organisations
• Experience of working in a commissioning environment
• Must be able to provide and receive highly complex, sensitive, or contentious information, negotiate with senior stakeholders on difficult and controversial issues, and present complex and sensitive information to large and influential groups
• Negotiate on difficult and controversial issues including performance and change
• Problem solving skills and ability to respond to sudden unexpected demands
• Ability to analyse complex facts and situations and develop a range of options
• Takes decisions on difficult and contentious issues where there may be several courses of action
• Strategic thinking – ability to anticipate and resolve problems before they arise

Project Management

• Devise project plans, allocating tasks as appropriate, identifying risks, issues, and dependencies, considering best practice and current options, and ultimately making decisions in the best interest of the project
• Monitor progress of projects to ensure they are on track and meeting milestones
• Development of action plans, implementation, and monitoring of impact
• Have overall responsibility for the project’s quality management
• Ensure effective use of change control processes
• Maintain all associated documentation and reports, attending regular team meetings to monitor progress and resources
• Pro-actively manage all stakeholders (particularly primary and secondary care), respond to and resolve conflict between different stakeholders when this arises through facilitation or other appropriate mechanisms
• Management of a risk and issues tracking mechanism and its proactive resolution and escalation processes
• Ensure the flexibility of the project if required to meet conflicting/changing requirements
• Demonstrate effective stakeholder management across different departments and at all levels
• The post holder will be responsible for facilitating decision making and will be empowered to make project decisions within the remit of project tolerances. A significant level of autonomy is expected
• Be responsible for the planning and organisation of numerous events/meetings. Ensure communication tools are used to their maximum value for circulating the minutes, agenda, and presentations in a timely manner
