Overview of role:

Reporting into the Analytical Development Manager, the Principal Scientist is expected to contribute significantly to the design and execution of various project-based, scientific activities within the team. We is seeking a talented and highly motivated individual with significant experience of research and developing and validating analytical procedures within a highly regulated environment.

Key responsibilities:

  • Serve as an analytical lead and provide technical expertise.
  • Lead complex method development and/or troubleshooting activities within the laboratory.
  • Provision of technical supervision in solving procedural specific issues.
  • Provision of technical support and mentoring to colleagues to assist with their analytical and professional development.
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement and lean/efficient working practices within the team.
  • Preparation, review and approval of key documentation, e.g., analytical reports, protocols and standard operating procedures.
  • Drive scientific and technological innovations.
  • Keep abreast of analytical advances in area of expertise to enhance the analytical capabilities within the development team.

Requirements:

  • Degree, Masters or PhD in Chemistry or an associated subject
  • Experience of working/managing within a high throughput analytical laboratory and a good understanding of the drug product development process
  • Strong technical knowledge and capability in analytical chemistry with strong emphasis on HPLC, GC, MS and inhalation testing.
  • Experience in Method Development of new method following QbD principles
  • Experience in Validation of methods in-line with the ICH/EMEA/FDA guidelines and regulations.
  • Widespread experience in the analysis of data and a good knowledge of those statistical techniques employed to identify outliers and trends.
  • Possession of good IT skills and the preparation of quality documentation in both a timely and accurate manner.
  • Leadership and team management capabilities applied within a laboratory environment.
