My client are a global Oil and Gas company. They are currently looking for an Analytical / Laboratory Technician to work in their global R&D centre in Humberside. They are looking for a talented and experienced technician to be responsible for the day to day safe operation and maintenance of analytical equipment located in the KRL laboratory. This role is primarily a day role, although occasional shift cover may be required.
Key accountabilities
Working as part of the team who support the Demonstration Plant, our analytical technicians are skilled in the operation of analytical techniques, including biotechnology techniques to monitor cell growth, and a variety of wet chemistry techniques, including titration and quantitative solids analysis in addition to some process specific techniques. In this role you’ll also be involved in instrument based analysis including YSI, HPLC, GC, KF and mass spectrometry. As an analytical technician, you will interact with Research Technicians, Technologists and engineers using your laboratory knowledge and experience to deliver analytical work packages that meet requirements of the wider teams. You will be expected to work flexibly across a number of analytical areas and apply appropriate day-to-day work prioritisation to ensure a high quality service across the demonstration plant. direction to the analytical shift team, and take personal responsibility for the quality of data generated, complying with data interpretation and storage standards. In this role you’ll provide preventative maintenance assistance, calibration and some troubleshooting of equipment when required, and oversee corrective action and operational improvements to instrumentation and equipment. You will develop and maintain a successful working relationships with peers, line management and colleagues across the organisation, supporting an inclusive environment where respect is an important part of our culture. We will expect you to maintain focus on your personal safety and the safety of others around you, and to follow all HSSE procedures, responding properly to emergencies and keeping safe behaviour a priority at all times.
Essential Education
To apply to this role, you should hold an A level in chemistry or a pure science subject, although we will consider applicants who can demonstrate a considerable level of experience in the essential skills required for this role who don’t have A level qualifications.
Essential experience and job requirements
We’re looking for someone who can demonstrate high calibre laboratory operations experience, with capabilities in a variety of analytical techniques. You should have the ability to address equipment operating issues and resolve them rapidly, working flexibly and autonomously as required. You should have a proven ability to interface with partners and offer advice in the interpretation of the data, and have great written and verbal communication skills.
