Facilities Technician

Salary: £30,000 – £36,000 per year

Mech Tech Professionals is recruiting for a Facilities Technician for our niche manufacturer in Newport.

Reporting to the Facilities Manager, the Facilities Technician will be required to manage the machinery during shift cover ensuring the plant runs efficiently at all times.

Main responsibilities will include:

• Fault finding and fault rectification on electrical, mechanical and pneumatic systems including boilers, air handlers, chillers, pumps and motors etc.
• Performing mechanical and/or electrical repairs to plant and equipment either in-situ or utilising workshop facilities
• Responding to site alarms and acting appropriately and promptly to ensure condition is rectified as soon as possible
• Ensure scheduled and non-routine maintenance is completed correctly and effectively, whether as part of a team or independently.
• Take ownership of designated areas and proactively drive 6S improvements.
• Liaise with Manufacturing and Repair & Maintenance to ensure customer needs are fully met
• Provide routine testing of various safety systems including sprinkler and fire alarm systems among others
• Participate in continuous training in all areas as required including but not limited to steam, BA, ERT, BMS, VA, Thermal imaging, etc.
• Supporting current contractors with Vacuum Pumps, Abatement, Chemical Distribution and Gas Distribution

To be considered for this role, it is essential that the successful candidate holds the following qualifications and experience:

• Engineering Apprenticeship with ONC or equivalent (desirable) in electrical/mechanical, engineering or a Facilities related field
• Experience within a facilities department or maintenance in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience in working with Pumps / Motors / valves / pipework etc.
• Experience of building management systems

Must be available to work a front-end shift pattern:

2 weeks days/ 2 weeks nights (Sunday, Monday, Tuesday) and (Saturday, Sunday Monday, Tuesday)
