Desktop / 2nd Line Support Engineer

Working for a large, well-established Public Sector organisation, we have the opportunity for a permanent position of Desktop Support / 2nd line support engineer. You have the option of working directly on a permanent basis with the client, or starting on a contract basis with the view to becoming a permanent member of staff within 3 months.

Main responsibilities and duties:

* Working as part of a team providing a responsive and customer focused desktop /2nd line support

* Assisting with resolving faults for desktop and associated problems allocated to the team by the IT Service Desk in an effective and timely manner

* Ensuring that all support calls and requests passed to the Team are dealt with appropriately and in accordance with defined policies and procedures, in accordance with service level agreements.

* Providing a development service to install, setup and configure new IT equipment for users such as PC’s, printers, iPads, Laptops and scanners for staff across sites.

* Developing and maintaining documentation of IT support service

* To participate in delivery of projects that have IM&T Desktop components in accordance with project deliverable set by the Head of IT service management and IT support manager.

* Data gathering of hardware and software configuration details

* IT surveys/audits of equipment for specific projects and day to day installations.

* Configuring and testing software and hardware

For this role you need to have previous experience of working within a 2nd line / Desktop Support position with technical skills of Windows SP, Active Directory, Windows Server and good knowledge of PC Hardware and peripherals.

This role is to start ASAP on a contract basis on a rate of £26,000 + HP PAYE / £11.30 ltd/umbrella per hour. If permanent application – the salary expectations will be between £21,000 – £22,800 + benefits / pension depending on your level of experience.
