Conventional Machinist / Bridgeport Miller

A Conventional Machinist / Bridgeport Miller is required for an engineering company based in the Aldridge area of Walsall. Duties including setting and operating conventional bridgeport millers to machine small to medium batch parts for the architectural industry. Temp to perm role working days 8am – 4:30pm Mon to Fri, rate of pay starts around £26,000per year dependent on experience.

Full duties include –

Setting and operating a conventional bridgeport miller to specification
Machining small to medium batch parts, some 1 off pieces all for the architectural industry
First off and regular quality inspection of all own work using gauges, micrometers and verniers
Working from engineering drawings or diagrams, sometimes from a test sample
May be required to operate a CNC machine from time to time, loading the machine and performing regular checks/inspections as required

Applicants MUST have a solid background within conventional machining, and be able to set and operate a bridgeport miller confidently with minimal training/supervision. Applicants MUST also be able to work from engineering drawings or test samples if required. A background or experience with operating CNC Machinery is highly advantageous.

The position is a permanent contract after successful completion of a 12 week probationary period.

Working hours are 8am – 4:30pm Monday to Friday.
