Position: Contract IT Services Manager

Location: Birmingham, West Midlands

Rate: £480 – £540 per day

Duration: 3 months

We are looking for an experienced interim IT Services Manager with experience of managing an enterprise scale infrastructure including datacentres to join a major UK company based in Birmingham for a period of 3 months.

You will take ownership of three support teams of 20 people in total covering service desk, desktop and infrastructure support, providing 24x7x365 support to multiple business units.

We are looking for someone with excellent people and infrastructure management skills that are experienced in managing teams dealing with circa 2500 calls per month working to ITIL standards.

The Role

You will assume responsibility for the IT support teams that support 2500 users throughout the UK as well as a largely virtualised datacentre housing 400 servers.

Technologies supported include desktop of which the majority are XP, Server 2003 and Citrix however there are also 2008 and 2012 servers. The company have already virtualized a great deal of the datacentre using the VMware platform so a solid understanding of VMware would be required as would experience within a Cloud environment using VCE VBlock platforms.

You would also be project managing the continued virtualisation of their remaining physical datacentre servers.

Working within an ITIL environment you will manage the teams plus the datacentre environment as well as participate in the overall strategy for the business and how IT is supporting it.

You will also play a major part in business transformation and change projects including some large implementations.

The role must work closely with the Business Support Managers and be responsible for owning Incident and Problem Management reporting to enable the BSM’s to manage business expectations.

Key Experience Required

You will be a highly experienced Infrastructure Manager either from a large corporate or an IT Services provider environment. You will be used to managing multiple teams of at least 20 people in an ITIL environment supporting a large user base.

You will be expected to use your strong management skills to drive the business forward in both level of service, efficiency and technology including the management or a number of outsourced service providers.

We do not require you to have technical hands on experience with the technologies mentioned above however we are expecting a good understanding of desktop, infrastructure, VMWare and cloud technologies. You will need to have experience of managing a datacentre environment.

Any experience with System Centre 2012 would be useful.
