Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Salary: £54,000 – £66,000 per year

As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer are you innovative, technically exceptional and at the forefront of precision engineering design and development? This is a superb opportunity with a leading exponent in their field.

Can you take the lead in designing a wide range of manual and automated electro-mechanical precision build products that are high quality, reliable and supplied to leading educational, research and manufacturing customers?

Your skills in precision mechanical design using 2D & 3D modelling software, will allow you to take your concepts through prototyping, evaluation, test and into production, delivering world beating, high quality, complex precision electro-mechanical assemblies.

Essential requirements and experience for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer:

* You will be BSc, BEng, MEng or PhD qualified in mechanical engineering and have significant experience with the design of precision products and mechanisms

* You will generate high quality manufacturing drawings in 2D and 3D containing full tolerances and detailed finishing specifications for precision components design to micron level

* Proven full product lifecycle from concept through design to launch, balanced with a strong understanding of meeting customer expectations and commercial viability

* A creative, practical, collaborative team player who has high technical knowledge and the ability to problem solve

* Significant Solidworks or similar modelling experience in both 2D & 3D, both creative and detailed

* Understanding different material selection for varied electro-mechanical products and assemblies will ideally be supported with hands-on practical abilities e.g. manual turning, milling and prototype build experience for evaluating theoretical designs

* As an all-round mechanical design engineer with an eye for DFMA (design for manufacture and assembly) you will be a key contributor to this award winning international organisation
