Salary: £54,000 – £60,000 per year

Financial Controller North Yorkshire £45-50k DOE + Excellent benefits

My client is a well-established environmental consultancy who now has a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Financial Controller to join a dynamic, growing company which exists to lead, inspire and educate to positively impact the environment and society. As a key member of the senior management team, you will maintain an efficient and accurate finance function within the business and support and inform the organisational strategy and decision making with a focus on the triple bottom line. Overseeing and completing as required all finance related activity and being responsible for the efforts and results of the finance team.

Some of your duties will be but not limited to;

  • Co-ordinate and direct preparation of the annual budget and financial forecasts reporting on any variances in alignment with the organisational roadmap; Develop management information and reports to inform decision making processes and organisational strategy; Have an active role in setting and driving organisational strategy and translating this into actionable plans; Establish, implement and oversee financial reporting systems to ensure compliance with government regulations and legislation; Implement and oversee controls and reconciliation activities to ensure completeness and accuracy of financial reports; Review all financial plans and budgets regularly to identify cost-reduction opportunities; Oversight of company VAT return (including sense-checking before submission); Oversight of monthly cash-flow; Completion of quarterly management accounts including depreciation, PAYE reconciliation, prepayments and accruals; Preparation and completion of end of year accounts and support with auditing; Manage/develop external relationships, such as with accountants, banks and other professional service providers; Input and support of customer pricing across the business; Supporting with completion of adhoc invoicing checks across customers with bespoke agreements at the point cost calculators are created; Manage the Xero accounting system ensuring all employees are competent in their roles on the system and handling any issues/anomalies within the system; Deliver all finance related training to any employees within the finance team, and coordinate with Finance Assistant training for all other employees; Identifying and driving areas of continuous improvement and efficiency with a focus on the optimum use of systems and technology; Oversight of credit control and providing support to difficult accounts; Complete regular reviews, and update as required the Financial Procedures Manual and finance related processes co-ordinating any required training as a result of any updates; Oversight of bulk invoicing providing support as required; Management of business insurances.

In order to be considered for the role you will be;

  • ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified with a minimum 2 years post qualification experience; proficient with Microsoft Office with a particular focus on Excel, and have a logical and methodical approach with an eye for detail; strong communication skills and the ability to prioritise, multi-task and manage time effectively in order to succeed in a fast-paced environment; able to be passionate about having input into a growing business going through a period of transformational change with a strong desire to work for a business for good; you must have strong work ethic working well under pressure with excellent organisational skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
