Field Technical Support Engineer (IT) – Bracknell – £28k – £32k + Bonus + Benefits

Our client is an innovative market leader within the field of designing and manufacturing computerised biometric and electronic security systems. To further their aim in delivering products and services of the highest quality they are looking to enhance their team by recruiting an experienced Field Technical Support Technician to join their team in Bracknell. This is an excellent opportunity for a professional and committed IT Technical Support Technician, with a combination of hardware and software skills, to develop a career within a dynamic company in an exciting high tech industry.

The role of Technical Support Specialist will be required to undertake the following:
• Testing and configuration of new systems to be rolled out at airports within the UK.
• Mixture of routine system maintenance to ensure system is in correct working order and applying software fixes and updates. Identifying faults both remotely and at sites.
• Responding to incidents and performing break/fix activities when errors and faults occur. Liaising with customer on site and remotely and proactively communicating with UK Service Manager, escalating issues and identifying areas where service can be improved.
• Providing on site early life support and training users of the system.
• Analysis of system performance in relation to business benefits.

The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate:

• IT Support experience, working at a minimum of 2nd/3rd level – working with Windows Operating Systems, able to undertake diagnostics and troubleshooting errors. Good knowledge of networking.
• Software skills – should have 5 years+ experience working in a Technical Support Environment. Experience working with Windows Operating Systems, able to undertake diagnostics and troubleshooting errors. Experience of software product support and with complex troubleshooting skills an advantage.
• Hardware skills – willing to be ‘hands on’ and with experience of diagnosing hardware faults. Working knowledge of networking infrastructure, cabling, electrical schematics and electromechanical equipment is an advantage.
• Interpersonal skills – must be comfortable operating alone within customer environment and working within a small team. Must have excellent time management and organisational skills, able to communicate well to customers and be comfortable liaising with other colleagues overseas. Well presented.
• Experience of working within an international culture and in an ITIL service environment an advantage.
• It is essential that you have a full UK licence for this role

Due to the nature of this role security clearance is an essential part of this role and will be obtained for you by our client if you do not have this already. Additionally flexibility with your work is essential, your role will be varied and split between working in the office and in the field and out of hours cover is required on a rota basis.
