Technical Manager
Polymer Raw Material Compounding
Based in South East
Salary/Benefits: Commensurate with experience
The client:
Our client is a leading global player in the development, manufacture and sale of specialized thermoplastic and cross-linkable polymer compounds.
Responsible for:
* New Product Developments
* Product sustaining and cost reduction activities
* Site and product regulatory compliance
* Commercial / Sales Technical point of contact
* Supporting the QHSE functions
* Preparing regular reports on R&D and Sustaining activities
Job Duties:
* Management of the R&D team and laboratories
* Develops new products from concept and works with the relevant teams for scale up, approval and commercialisation
* Manages the implementation of raw material qualifications for strategic or cost reduction initiatives
* Management of Technical and Materials Safety data sheets
* Management of the Departmental Work Instructions
* Supports the product compliance with regards to REACH, RoHS etc.
* Support the QA team for Customer concerns and complaints and ISO 9001 compliance
* Supports the HSE function for Lab Risk Assessments and ISO 45001 / 14001 compliance
* Attends relevant webinars, conferences and trade shows relevant to the business as required
Skills and Qualities:
* Preferably a Degree in Chemistry, Polymer / Materials Science or similar.
* Good understanding of the processing of polymers is required and of compounding would be advantageous, more especially reactive chemistries.
* Proven experience of managing a laboratory and / or small team of technicians.
* Knowledge of analytical and rheological testing of polymers and additives would be an advantage.
* The candidate must be proficient with the Microsoft Office suite of Apps, have experience in report writing and producing technical summaries to senior management, must demonstrate effective communication skills, ability to manage their own time and prioritise work load of others, be self-motivated, flexible and with an eye for detail.
