JOB TITLE: Team Leader
LOCATION: Arla Lockerbie, Creamery / Dairy, Dumfriesshire DG11 1LW

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB:

To carryout a supervisory role utilising site resources, ensuring that all equipment with Dalkia control is correctly operated and maintained, maximising plant availability and reliability with 100% compliance on a daily basis

To organise and manage the site team, contractors and other personnel that work onsite under Dalkia’s control under the Company health and safety polices and procedures and company values

As required to assist site Team maximising plant efficiency whilst ensuring the safety of all personnel at all times

To Interface with the client on a daily basis through daily meetings and reporting ensuring contract KPI’s are maintained and met.

To maintain budget control set down by the contracts manager.

To operate and maintain all site main utilities within a team that delivers 24/7 cover to the Arla Lockerbie site through a 1 in 3 callout rota. To provide a good level of housekeeping and aesthetic appearance in accordance with standard operating procedures and specified standards as determined by the contract KPIs and company values.

To carryout maintenance, fault finding, repair, de-commissioning and re-commissioning (electrical & Mechanical) on a wide range of Plant (Boilers, Compressors, Refrigeration and waste waster Treatment plant), systems and equipment, ensuring that all equipment within Dalkia’s control is correctly maintained and repaired, maximising plant efficiency and the safety of themselves and all other personnel at all times.

The Team Leader must be able to undertake the role with the minimum of supervision, whilst maintain a flexible approach and focuses on the needs of the customers and effectively follows the quality process and procedures put in place, including pro-actively identifying areas for improvement.

Role will require a flexible approach ensuring that the site is covered whilst holidays are covered within a fixed rota, which will be determined by site maintenance / Annuals

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• To effectively identify the resources required carrying out the activity/ service requirements, and capturing these in the most appropriate form.
Covering key areas such as:
– Procurement – Materials/ Suppliers
– Recruitment
– Tools/ Equipment
– Transport
• Effectively form these into a plan, ensuring all risks have been identified and managed accordingly, to ensure successful completion/ implementation of activity/ service.
• Delegating, organising and co-ordinating all resources to ensure successful completion/ implementation of activity/ service.
• On going monitoring of activity/service, implementing corrective action to either improve or put things ‘back on track’.
• To ensure continued availability and optimal performance of plant through effective implementation of PPM, Condition Monitoring, Routine Maintenance, through:-
– Regular visits to review and inspect the asset and site.
– Ensuring PPM Schedules are maintained and are effective.
– Identifying critical items of plant, which could cause major disruption/ loss of service and plan contingencies?
– Analysis of plant failures/ under performance, taking appropriate corrective action.

Ensuring plant is operated and maintained to current statutory regulations and guidelines, including ‘best practice’.
• Maintains regular contact with customers to ensure continued satisfaction, identifying potential problems early, giving the necessary management direction & support to resolve such issues.
• Understands Clients culture, needs, business drivers and expectations, establishing close working relationships with individuals within these organisations.

• Has the ability to generate, inspire and maintain dynamism, growing a clear sense of purpose in individuals, through directing their output towards the short and medium term goals of the business.
• Carry out duties in accordance with the Dalkia Health and Safety manual and Company Operating Procedures and work to the values of the company mission and vision statements. Including the provision of appropriate resources, training, PPE, Documentation and Equipment
• To write Permit to Works and Carryout Isolations on equipment for you and contractors
• To ensure and maintain a superior level of aesthetics and housekeeping in and around the plant, equipment and buildings
• All general cleaning, tidying, painting activities
• Receive all deliveries including bulk chemical tankers and other chemical transport deliveries.
• To safely operate and maintain all site main utilities under Dalkia’s control ensuring 100% service delivery is supplied to the client under contract KPI’s
• To safely operate within a Team on a 1 in 3 callout Rota covering the site 24/7
• To safely operate and maintain plant / equipment through Daily / Weekly / Monthly / Annual Operations. This will include Boilers, Refrigeration Plant, Air Compressors, and Effluent Treatment Plant.
• To safely and efficiently assist in operating all plant & equipment to ensure all KPIs are met.
• Provide absence and holiday cover within the site team as required
• Provide an appropriate response to emergency situations (As part of the callout rota)
• To safely carryout other duties as deemed appropriate by the General Maintenance Operator / Technicians / Team Leader / Contracts Manager/ Operations Manager or his representative.
• Interface with the sites Computerised Maintenance Management System in accordance with company operating procedures.
• Provide assistance to contractors working on site.
• Work in any area within his/her competence under the direction of the Technician Team Leader

KEY COMPETENCIES:

• Several years experience gained with an engineering service delivery environment, where they have had some exposure to financial management, SHE, people and customer relationship management
• Qualified to HNC level in a craft, trade or Engineering discipline
• Steam Generating experience and fully up to speed with Boiler Operations as per HSE guidelines in the safe management of Industrial steam and hot water boilers
• Be pro active and self-managing and to exercise individual core technical skills effectively, flexibly to a high personal standard of workmanship.
• To maintain a high standard of housekeeping
• Self motivating and a strong team player with a can do attitude prepared to go the extra mile
• Proven ability to fault find and problem solve both electrically and mechanically
• Excellent communications skills (written, telephone manner/verbal/face to face).
• Able to understand and act on both verbal and written instructions/procedures
• Able to complete forms (e.g.: engineers’ work sheets, Timesheets, PPM sheets, expenses forms) competently and accurately
• Seeks out and takes opportunities to learn new skills
• Strong PC skills
• Full Driving licence

DESIRABLE COMPETENCIES:

Knowledge of PLCs/computer control systems advantageous
Other associated electrical, mechanical and control skills
Knowledge of continuous process equipment – water treatment technology especially
Knowledge of Health & Safety statutory legislation and requirements
Knowledge of ISO management systems – 9001, 14000 and 18001
