Role description
Altran are currently looking for Software Engineers (C#) to support a range of current and upcoming projects in the Rail & Transportation sector.
The projects involve building railway signalling systems. The role will include writing bespoke software that helps people to visualise and operate systems. The software shows diagrams of railway line layouts and real-time information arriving from trains on the rail network.
The amount of equipment deployed on a rail network is large, and the configuration of it is complex. The software manages this complexity and scale using a database and by transforming the data in various ways using XML and XML schema (XSD).
Key Skills & Experience
The successful candidate will have skills and experience in the following:
• Ideally hold a Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or similar, alternatively have equivalent experience.
• Skills in C#,.NET, ASP.NET, AJAX, MVC, Object-oriented programming – UML
• The modelling, manipulation and processing of complex data using the combination of databases and XML schema (XSD).
• Strong software skills covering the full development lifecycle (requirements capture, analysis, design, test, documentation, maintenance & configuration management)
• Experience of working in a project team to delivery in an Agile environment
• Be able to cope with a wide variety of problems and devise innovative and practical solutions that balance the client’s needs against costs, schedules and risks.
• Have good interpersonal skills and will be expected to occasionally liaise with Altran Clients, influencing and advising them with regard to technical, strategic and commercial considerations.
• Display enthusiasm for constantly learning new skills, tools and techniques.
