Software Developer (JavaScript)

As a software developer, working with JavaScript, Python and Java technologies, you will have the chance to become a full-stack developer. You will be building customer-facing text-analytics solutions for some of the world’s most-recognised brands.

My client, a leader in the information industry, has specialised in the development of semantic search and text-mining software, which is based on Natural Language Processing (NLP).

Making use of your JavaScript, Java and Python skills, you will work closely with front-end and server-side technologies, throughout multiple teams, to deploy my client’s core products.

As well as strong front-end development skills (using JavaScript, jQuery, CSS3 and HTML5) and in-depth experience of server-side development and databases (especially Python, Java and MySQL), my client is also looking for some (if not all) of the following qualities:

• Degree from a top university or equivalent qualification in computer science, mathematics or a related discipline.
• Practical understanding of web design and application frameworks; knowledge of Django would be useful.
• A thorough understanding of cross-browser compatibility and developing for mobile devices.
• Full-cycle software engineering skills, e.g. OO design, design patterns, unit testing, automated builds.
• A start-up mentality to get things up and running quickly and a love of rapid, iterative customer-centric development.
• Some familiarity with Big Data, Search or Text Analytics would be advantageous.
