PERMANENT

LOCATION: Brighton, East Sussex

SALARY: Circa. £70,000 plus mileage expenses, private healthcare, 26 days holiday

THE COMPANY 

Founded over 15 years ago this award-winning regional building contractor based in Brighton, East Sussex (covering Sussex & Surrey) undertake projects in both the public and private sector. Typical projects include Private Housing, Commercial, Healthcare and Education with values between £1m-£8m. They have an impressive 2022/2023/2024 order book and are experiencing an exciting period of growth.

THE PROJECT

The initial project is in Crawley, West Sussex and begins early August 2022, which comprises of an extension to an existing commercial office circa £3.8m.

THE JOB

This exciting Senior Quantity Surveyor vacancy, based on site in Crawley, West Sussex. You will have the support of an office based Commercial Director, but you will be expected to take commercial responsibility. Your duties will include: 

• Work closely with and agree contract programmes with the Project Manager and Commercial Director and monitor progress commercially
• Preparation and submission of monthly valuations 
• Set up initial Cost Value Report (CVR) utilising the Estimators tender summary
• Update CVR monthly and communicate figures to the Commercial Director
• Advise internally on cash flow forecasts as necessary
• Assist and resolve any client-related issues or disputes
• Review sub-contractor and Major Suppliers Commercial performance on completion of contracts, giving feedback where appropriate

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

• The ideal candidate will have managed projects or packages circa £1m to £6m. 
• Happy to travel to sites across Sussex & Surrey
• Experienced in residential or commercial new build projects
• Full knowledge of JCT forms of contract
• Degree/HND qualification in quantity surveying/commercial management/construction desirable
• Excellent understanding of Excel
• Excellent planning and organisation skills
• Good negotiation and communication skills
• Good time management skills
• Self-motivating
• Highly numerate
• Evidence of maintaining a professional, consistent, and fair approach
