Finance Assistant
V-Recruit are excited to be working in partnership with one of the UKs most forward thinking, recognised and respected Multi-Academy Trusts to recruit 1 x Finance Assistant to work within their Sheffield based secondary academy.
This role is a temporary role in the first instance, with good potential of becoming permanent.
37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year with 25 days annual leave, plus bank holidays (this increases with length of service)
Permanent salary: £27,833 – £28,865with annual increments plus inflation linked increases
Working hours are Monday to Thursday, 8am-4pm, Friday is 8am-3.30pm

You will be joining a well-established, friendly, and professional school-based finance team. Your main duties will be to provide financial administrative support to the Assistant Finance Manager and Finance Manager by undertaking transactional accounting and clerical duties. You will have the opportunity to help ensure the resources of the school are used in the most effective way for the benefit of the students.
Main duties to include:
- Carrying out all financial procedures accurately, in a timely manner and in accordance with statutory guidelines, financial regulations, Trust and departmental policies and procedures
- Making accounting entries manually and via associated financial systems
- Reconciling balance sheets accounts on a monthly basis
- Maintaining sub ledgers and associated processes e.g. sales ledger and credit control
- Cash management including the collecting, counting and banking of physical cash
- Coordinating the purchase of goods and supplies, ensuring the school obtains best value for money from suppliers and contractors
- Archiving and disposing of financial documents in line with record retention requirements
- Dealing with queries regarding supplier and budget account holders, liaising with Heads of Faculty and external suppliers
- Organising, confirming and processing staff travel expenses and organising school visits and sports fixtures
The successful candidate must have an excellent aptitude for numbers, excellent organisational skills, good attention to detail and be a confident communicator. The chosen candidate will be professional and take pride in all aspects of their work.
Although experience within an educational setting would be advantageous, it is not essential as full training and support will be given. If made permanent, this role will give you an opportunity to study towards an accountancy qualification such as AAT, ACCA or CIMA from Level 2 up to Level 7. This role will give you a well-rounded introduction to the Finance function and provide the opportunity to develop both analytical and professional skills that will be of benefit to you in your future career.
