Quality Engineer

Tamworth, Staffordshire

£35,000 + (Depending on experience)

Permanent position

We are looking for a dedicated Quality Engineer to grow and manage the Quality function and support HSE processes within a successful, expanding and innovative business.

This is a brand new role within the company, and will provide an exciting opportunity for your personal development and career growth. You will work closely with people across the business, to improve the level of service that our suppliers deliver in terms of quality, value and accuracy. As such a background in quality inspection techniques and processes would be highly desirable.

Through communication and training you will ensure that all business activities and staff follow a safe system of work and behaviour. You will be the main contact for all Quality matters on site, and you will ensure that relevant Quality policies and procedures are developed and followed correctly.

You will be responsible for supporting HSE matters, including waste minimisation, reducing carbon footprints and be the main contact for various sub-contractors.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Management and improvement of supplier quality & levels of service
  • Establishing a robust quality inspection process and function for internal and external components
  • Addressing any product / component non-conformances
  • Support product compliance, RoHS, WEEE, CE, UKCA and Global requirements
  • Managing the calibration schedules of all production equipment and assets as required
  • Management of company Quality policies and procedures
  • Responsible for supporting Health & Safety for the entire site
  • Carrying out risk assessments and where required, relevant method statements
  • Be the appointed Responsible Person for all Fire Safety matters
  • Establish a Health & Safety training scheme for all levels of employees
  • Coordinating fire marshals and first aiders
  • Responsible for site waste management and be the main point of contact for waste management sub-contractors

Experience & Skills required:

  • Ideally 3 years’ experience in a similar role within a manufacturing background would be preferred but not essential
  • You must hold a relevant formal qualification such as NEBOSH
  • Previous Quality Inspection process experience is essential
  • You will be analytical and thorough in your working practices, be able to engage with all levels of the organisation and set high personal standards of work
  • A confident individual with a positive attitude that can hit the ground running
  • Excellent communication skills are essential
  • Ability to work as part of a team whilst being able to utilise your own initiative simultaneously
