Quality Engineer

Salary: £36,000 – £48,000 per year

Quality Engineer required for a well-established engineering manufacturer of specialist high speed components for a range of sectors such as FMCG, Aeropsace and Automotive. Due to organic growth an opportunity has arisen within our client’s manufacturing facility for an experienced Quality Engineer to join their team.

As a Quality Engineer you will have experience of CMM measurement equipment and be able to run a CMM ( coordinate measuring machine ) ideally Hexagon or and Mitutoyo type.

We are looking for someone who has lots of experience in this field of measuring parts and submitting PPAP submission in the automotive industry ( part production approval process )

PPAP submissions involve measuring parts, creating, and submitting PPAP reports that including dimensional results, SPC data ( statistical process control ), gauge R+ R studies etc.

The main important factor is that you have lots of experience in programming and using a full automatic CMM machine. Working from customer drawings that can be quite complexed with geometric tolerancing on it.

Quality Engineer:-

All PPAP submissions to customers.
All internal auditing.
All external audits together with the Quality Manager.
All calibration.
Creation of all in process quality documentation and computer files such as control plans, statistical charts etc.
Purchase of specialised gauging.
Transfer of CMM Mitutoyo machines to Hexagon.
Customer liaisons regarding new products up to the point of customers approval for production.
Attending sampling of new tooling both on-site and off-site and ensuring it is carried out to your satisfaction
Creation of master samples.
Creation of work instructions.
Goods inwards inspection and control.
Customer product books for all parts.
Complete upgrade of all quality manuals.

Skills and abilities:

Knowledge and experience in inspection methods including strong working knowledge of CMM machines is essential for this role
Able to understand, interpret complex engineering drawings.
Good verbal and written communication skills
Strong computer skills including, word processing, spreadsheets and databases
Experience:

Ideally an apprentice trained engineer who has progressed into quality / inspection.
Hands on shop floor inspection experience is essential.
