Salary: £36,000 – £45,600 per year
This career opportunity Quality Engineer is for a passionate, positive, and continuous improvement ambassador with skills in electro-mechanical component measurement and dimensional specification compliance. This will ensure all incoming materials meet quality standards, costs are reduced, and customer satisfaction is maximised.
As a strong team player, you will work closely with production, purchasing and suppliers to resolve non-conformance issues delivering effective resolution. As the Quality Engineer you will be:
- Checking components, assemblies and prototypes, providing accurate measuring services at all stages of manufacturing
- Set up, programme and operate the CMM machine to provide inspections, measurements and then produce result reports for new or modified parts
- Action root cause analysis and track corrective actions all the way ensuring close out
- Handling all non-conformance (NCR) quality issues through to implementing changes requests, concessions and drawing changes
Essential skills and qualities of the Quality Engineer:
- A Metrology Engineering qualification or equivalent experience ideally gained in a precision electro-mechanical engineering manufacturing environment
- Use of gauging, measurement and test equipment with practical knowledge of machining and fabricated components.
- Ability to operate and programme all measurement equipment used, especially a CMM
- Able to read, understand and update / manipulate 3D CAD engineering drawings and models, with an aptitude to use solid modelling software
- Strong communication, time management, multi-tasking skills and able to work independently within the team. Sound working knowledge of MS Office
Develop these in-depth skills and qualities as the Quality Engineer:
- Electronic and mechanical precision assembly techniques in line with best practice to meet measurement and calibration standards – Lean manufacturing
- Broad based engineering teamwork with lots of internal & external liaison
- Knowledge of metrology techniques, measurement systems, calibration processes and specification performance tests.
