Project Quantity Surveyor
Location: Sheffield office – frequent national/regional travel

The Capital Projects Team work on refurbishment and new build construction projects across the Blue Light, Health, Education, Retail and commercial sectors with values up to £15 million on a national basis. The activities we undertake range from the design and delivery of complex refurbishment and new build projects up to the value of £15m, where we are able to utilise our team’s broad skills base, through to small regional projects for valued customers.
As part of the Kier Services division, our Kier Capital Projects businesses in the North are geographically responsible for everything north of the M25, with occasional work in the South for existing clients. Creating new buildings and spaces needs people who are passionate, and our team are committed to achieving results that exceed our clients’ ambitions. Our design processes focus on our customers’ needs, and are based on an ethos of teamwork and an ability to understand and address the key project issues.
Key Responsibilities
As Project Quantity Surveyor for Capital Projects, your role will be key to the successful commercial delivery and profitability on a range of contracts throughout the country. Your primary office location will be in Sheffield with a requirement to visit sites throughout the country on a visiting basis. Projects range in value from £50k to £5m and include new builds, extensions, refurbishments, fit out, FRA works and cladding on a construct only or design and build basis. Our client base includes local authorities, blue light, government bodies, education, healthcare and housing associations.
As an integral member of the Capital Projects workstream, you’ll be responsible for multiple projects including cost control, maximising value, minimising future liabilities, project VCR/ELF reporting and maintaining the required standard of quality and safety. In this exciting role, you will provide commercial expertise, whilst carrying out the production and submission of valuations, claims, budget monitoring, monthly reporting and workstream performance data
What do we need from you?
Can you do it? Yes, you can – if you have a degree or HNC in Quantity Surveying, excellent organisation skills, proven time management, commercial focus and drive – ideally alongside some Quantity Surveying experience in the Minor Construction works and Housing Maintenance industry.
