Project Engineer

We are looking for a Project Engineer for an Engineering Systems Consultancy based in Derby but who would at

times work onsite at clients premises. As the Project Engineer you will work as part of a team in the concept,

design, build and test of railway and vehicle systems for a diverse portfolio of projects.

Job Profile

* You will concentrate on implementing new technologies and enhancements onto existing and new vehicle platforms.

* You will join a dynamic and highly skilled development team.

* You will be involved in projects which supply to major players in the Automotive and Railway design and development Industries.

* You will ensure the smooth running of the day to day activities so that the customer is satisfied with the quality and overall service received.

* Partake in and attend performance reviews

* Delivery of development and integration activities including Fleet Engineering, Functional / System integration, test and diagnostics activities.

* Integration tasks ranging from Design, analysis, verification and validation of vehicle systems. Use of load banks, vehicles, LabCars etc for development activities.

* Coordination of Integration support activities.

* Researching new technologies in order to satisfy the customers requirement to develop cutting edge technologies to provide the latest vehicle features.

* Travel between company sites will be required on an occasional basis. Overseas travel may be required from time to time.

Experience

You should have experience in some of the following areas:

* Rail, Automotive or other system-based sector experience preferably with a working knowledge of rolling stock / vehicle systems

* Understanding of system design and development techniques.

* Ability to read circuit diagrams, harness drawings and debug electrical faults on vehicles.

* Ability to use analysis tools and diagnose issues.

* Ability to methodically debug complex integration issues.

Skills Required

You will need a combination of the following skills:

* A background in system development.

* A good understanding of system analysis tools and technologies.

* An ability to work on one or more jobs concurrently.

Desirable Skills

You should have some of the following skills:

* Knowledge of Railway Group Standards, safety protocols.

* Knowledge of railway rolling stock electrical and mechanical systems.

* Knowledge of automotive protocols (e.g. CAN) and systems.

Qualifications An appropriate engineering degree in a related discipline (Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, Maths,

Computer Studies, Physics or Chemistry)

Salary – £33,600 – £42,000- dependent upon experience.
