Production Quality Manager

Main Job Purpose

To manage all relevant production quality resources and services, to ensure specified acceptable levels of quality and performance are not only reached, but also demonstrate a continuous improving trend, whilst assuring minimal disruption to the manufacture and delivery of parts and products.

Principal Accountabilities

Improve the external level of delivered quality, recommend to internal management and customers, actions to eliminate problems thereby reducing the cost of poor quality.
To lead and develop the production quality group, in order to identify and promote new and strategic opportunities, for continuous upgrading and improvement of the quality skills and techniques used
Provide advice and technical support to production supervision, to develop new ways of working that will support the return of direct responsibility for component manufacture and process quality.
Manage the resource to provide warranty Returns analysis service, and supports the necessary inputs to APQP activities for new and modified products. Make improvement recommendations and take action, following analysis of production quality service, to increase performance levels where appropriate.
Manage concern resolution with honesty, integrity and speed. Treat others with who there are working relationships with dignity and respect. Give full commitment and support for training, communications, environment, health and safety, housekeeping and personal discipline.

Job Scope

Driving continuous improvement activities through participation in Kaizen activites
Responsible for planning efficient use of section resources and quality systems to reduce the internal cost of poor quality
Decisions on day to day quality levels to permit build storage and dispatch. Takes the departmental lead in the absence of the executive quality manager when major system, component or product quality is questionable.

Preferred Education & Experience

Qualified to Degree / HND in Quality or Engineering discipline (desirable)
Knowledge of electronics and plastic moulding processes and procedures relating to high volume production (essential)
3 years previous management experience in a similar automotive environment (Essential)
Knowledge and experience in the use and analysis of problem solving tools, statistical process control and other quality techniques. (Essential)
Awarewness, training and experience in quality processes such as Six sigma, APQP, PPAP, FMEA and auditing techniques (essential)
Working knowledge of personal computers (essential)
Ability to lead others and work unsupervised whilst meeting deadline commitments (essential)
Detailed knowledge of company type plant, equipment and production methods (desirable)
Driving licence, as travel (with overnight stops) may be required (essential)
