£48,000 – £54,000 per annum + (depending on experience)

Permanent position

A successful Worcestershire-based manufacturing business with a global presence, are currently looking for an experienced Production Manager to manage the production function with responsibilities for the overall site at Redditch.

The responsibility for the production function will lie with the Production Manager, however much of the broad area of responsibility would be expected to be managed through delegation.

Duties include:

• Managing a busy Manufacturing Centre including a Carpentry Shop, CNC & Traditional Machine Shop, 2x Spray Booths, CNC Machines (2), Warehousing
• Managing all production workforce (approximately 20 personnel) 
• Recruitment and staff releases
• Carrying out new staff inductions & training
• Ensuring Health & Safety compliance covering both Redditch and external construction sites 
• Undertaking wage negotiations (with MD approval)
• Ensuring the Company manufactures all deliverables in agreed timescales
• Management of company warehousing facilities
• Managing company assets internally and in addition to client properties

Experience required: 

Previous Production Management experience ideally within a similar manufacturing environment

Have proven people-management and leadership skills appropriate to the production / manufacturing function

Knowledge and experience of managing of Company Management Systems such as:

• COSHH
• Health & Safety
• CDM
• Quality (ISO 9001)
• Environmental (ISO 14001)
• Professional Accreditations (SafeContractor, CHAS, Builders Profile, Constructionline)
• Employee training
• GDPR
• Internal Computer ERP / Project Management database

Implementation and overseeing the management of a stock control system

Computer Literacy including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook & ERP Management systems

Other management duties include:

• Company HGV/Van Fleet management
• Production Equipment Checks (F/L, Genies, Ladders, Scaffold towers, Spray Booths, Air Compressors, Airlines, Machinery, Extraction system, Pallet racking, heating/lighting systems, etc)
• Facilities Management: All building fabric and systems (heating, water, security, fire alarms etc).
• Providing management reports to the Directors (Production report as required); proposing any changes or developments required to keep production department effective/efficient.

Liaising with the Contract Managers, Finance and Commercial Departments and Company Directors as required to support the Executive team

Representing the Production function to all suppliers of production materials and services, including temp worker agencies and sub contractors

Supporting the Company in all ways to ensure its reputation is not brought into disrepute by any production employee or quality delivery issues

Subcontracting:

As well as managing the resources of our own production facility the role will also involve outsourcing work as required. This can be any level of the production process, a whole project, or labour only.

The quality of our project delivery must be maintained, whether produced in house or externally. Sourcing the right supply partners and managing that process, is vital in achieving this.

Additional Information:

The hours are in theory 9.00 am to 5.00 pm, however the responsibilities of the position will require whatever time the incumbent needs to fulfil the remit of the role to the satisfaction of the Company Directors.

IMPORTANT:

The production function is the largest profit centre in the Company and the Company’s financial results can be affected by the performance of this function. Therefore, the Production Manager must understand that this role requires an attention to the efficient and effective use of the workforce and taking responsibility for ensuring delivery of the products and contracts, within the quoted time and cost parameters.
