Operations Manager

The Client:
High value, low volume electromechanical engineering

The Role:
+ Reporting to the General Manager, the Operations Manager will be responsible for all aspects of running the business unit.
+ The Operations Manager will provide senior management leadership for the department while leading and driving the efforts of the entire team to achieve set business goals and objectives.
+ The Operations Manager will be accountable for developing and implementing succinct key performance metrics for the UK Operations tied to US corporate goals, and achieving annual, quarterly and monthly revenue shipment, inventory, budget and margin targets, including maintaining margin per order. As well as meeting all scheduled commitments for new product development and release into production. They will also have input into Sales proposals.
+ The Operations manager will work closely with key suppliers (working with supply chain management) to implement streamlined processes and establish partnering relationships with seamless links to production/operation requirements and focus on Quality and inventory control/management.
+ The Operations Manager will establish and train appropriate staff levels to grow the organization into a world class operation with clear focus on meeting customer deliverables and achieving corporate business goals/objectives for the business.
+ Demonstrated experience in growing capability of a site, cost control, product cost reductions and margin improvements.

Key Responsibilities:
+ Develop and manage master production schedule and operations budgets for products that directly support and ensure product success
+ Establish strategy and best practices for staff to ensure achieving of overall business objectives.
+ Responsible for developing the appropriate organizational structure and resource plans to support our business objectives and customer deliverables.
+ Responsible for facilities, resource planning and execution of business objectives for the product lines – including implementation of required processes and controls.
+ Responsible for driving operational efficiencies, with a clear focus on the design, build and delivery of world class quality products within budget and on schedule – while meeting and exceeding product margin goals.
+ Proactively engage/work with product line management, engineering, service and other departments to incorporate best practices into the operations environment.
+ Drive the development and effective use of key metrics to track and manage operations performance and ensure they are in sync with overall company goals.

Job Qualifications:
+ Extensive experience in operational management in a fast paced high technology, rapidly expanding organisation
+ Excellent people management skills, across various functional areas, to achieve common goals
+ Proven track record and ability to lead cross-functional teams to achieve business successes
+ Great understanding of commercial business elements, with focus on performance measures.
+ Ability to set up processes and controls for various business functions
+ Working knowledge of advanced manufacturing techniques and processes.
+ Demonstrated ability to manage a complex network of relationships both internally and externally
+ Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, excellent understanding of manufacturing concepts, project management, planning and inventory control.
+ Strong interpersonal and facilitation skills, excellent formal and informal communication with periodic presentations and reports to senior management.
+ Performance and results oriented and be able to develop, motivate and lead strong, effective, teams
+ International travel may be required
+ Experience of dotted reporting lines and working with US or overseas holding Company an advantage
+ Minimum of bachelor’s degree (EU Equivalent) in science or engineering
+ Advantage would be a Masters Degree (EU Equivalent) in Business Management

Salary:
£40,000 to £60,000 D.O.E plus benefits
