Salary: £120,000 – £156,000 per year

Group Operations Director

Background to the company we are working on behalf of:

Originally established as an investment group, acquiring, taking ownership and developing SME’s across various industry sectors. The group has evolved, diversifying its activities and field of operations by establishing trading companies to market/sell construction materials within various product sectors, including (without limitation);

* Insulated materials

* Facade and render systems

* High tech coatings

* Timber

* Structural panels

* Glass/glazing

* Building chemicals

* Etc.

SUMMARY OF THE ROLE
The role involves overseeing all operational aspects of the groups strategy, setting strategic goals and being responsible for the flow of operations information.

 Contributing to corporate strategy in the areas of production, purchase, distribution and supply chain to ensure that the group companies achieve their short- and long-term objectives.
 Direct and oversee operations staff to ensure that they are motivated and trained to carry out their responsibilities to the required standard.
 Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure that core operational functions achieve their business objectives.
 Develop and control operational budgets to promote profitability and ensure the group
companies have all the resources required to meet its objectives within agreed financial
parameters.
 Direct and control supply to ensure that goods of the required standard are available to
customers within agreed costs and at the right times.
 Oversee purchasing to ensure that group companies have the goods and services required within agreed costs and quality standards and at the right times.
 Direct and control warehousing and distribution functions to ensure that customers are supplied with the right quantities of goods at the right times.
 Direct and control supply chain operations.
 Develop all necessary policies and procedures to ensure safe and healthy working environments across all company locations.
 Maintain working relations with all other directors to ensure effective coordination of all group companies activities in support of corporate objectives.
 Evaluate overall company performance by gathering, analysing and interpreting data and metrics.
 Act as the groups main advisor on all issues relating to operational functions and keep abreast of latest developments to ensure that the group companies maintain a competitive position.

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

 Extensive operations management experience
 Experience in and with construction industry products/materials
 In depth knowledge of diverse business functions and principles including supply chain and customer service
 Analytical skills to evaluate data and performance, operation metrics
 Excellent inter-personal and negotiating skills
 Excellent organisational and leadership abilities
 Excellent time management skills
 Excellent decision-making skills
 Suitable educational qualifications or proven experience, with a solid track record of
achievement

REMUNERATION
An excellent performance led package which includes a generous equity stake (shareholding) and dividend payments.
