About the role:
The primary responsibility of the Head Analyst is to deliver complete and accurate evaluation data to the Account Executives within a specified timeline so that an insightful report about the client’s media profile can be produced. This requires management of the received media coverage and careful monitoring of the coverage which has been sent for evaluation and on which evaluation has been completed.

Freelance Analysts enter data in accordance with the client’s agreed evaluation criteria under the supervision of the Head Analyst. The Head Analyst undertakes quality control processes within the client database utilizing logical queries to ensure the Freelance Analysts’ work is being completed accurately and to the quality specified in the project oriented training.

A high standard of verbal and written English is required to ensure that Head Analysts can be understood by our freelance analysts many of whom are not native English speakers. It is imperative that Head Analysts can make themselves fully understood so as to ensure client requirements are successfully met.

Core duties & responsibilities:
• Data Quality Control
o Running logical queries to cleanse data of errors
o Monitoring the accuracy of Freelance Analyst data through spot checking and feeding back on the errors
o Ensuring all relevant media coverage has been received
o Ensuring all relevant media coverage has been evaluated by the relevant Freelance Analysts
o Ensuring high quality data is delivered to deadlines agreed with the Account Manager

•Planning & Organisation
oEnsuring that potential account changes will not adversely affect the analysts’ ability to evaluate content in a correct and timely fashion
oSetting deadlines for delivery of work in conjunction with the account team and ensuring that these are adhered to
oMaintaining records of analyst capacity and ensuring that they are able to deliver the required level of coverage to the required standard
oKeeping accurate records of analyst availability and making sure any replacement takes place within the four week notice period
oCreating an accurate list of tasks requiring cover during periods of absence (such as sickness or annual leave) and arranging cover for planned absences including briefing those who will cover on the details of the tasks
oAttending debriefing sessions with account teams and raising any pertinent issues that may affect the ability to produce any deliverables to deadline
oConsulting with Account Managers and the Head of External Analysts to ensure rates reflect the work being done and are consistent across accounts
oComparing rates to current brief after changes have been implemented to ensure payment is still correct (rates may go up or down depending on the changes)
oSuggesting efficiencies in analysis processes to help bring down analyst costs e.g. syndication of cuttings, validation rules, flag dependencies etc

•Freelance Analyst Management
oAnswering ad-hoc questions from Freelance Analysts regarding the project(s) on which they are working
oIn conjunction with the Head of External Analysts ensuring all projects under the Head Analyst’s control have been fully resourced from the Freelance Analyst pool
oManaging freelance analyst holidays and sickness to ensure all work will be covered during absences
oDeveloping and maintaining good relationships with analysts
oTaking disciplinary action against underperforming analysts to improve quality of work
oEnsuring that deadlines are adhered to and taking action if they are not

•Training and Development of Freelance Analysts
oRunning training sessions to ensure client requirements are fully understood by analysts
oEnsuring all analysts are working to the most current set of client requirements
oCreating clear and concise guidelines that breakdown and explain the requirements of individual clients to ensure that evaluation is undertaken successfully
oKeeping all relevant documentation up to date for all projects that are being worked on
oFeeding back to the Head of External Analysts to enable the creation of a profile of strengths and weaknesses within the freelance analyst pool
oProviding detailed feedback to Freelance Analysts on the quality of their work in a fair and objective way
oTaking part in the Basic Analyst Training Schedule (BATS) to ensure all Freelance Analysts have a full understanding of our processes and systems
oFollowing up on training to ensure that analysts have fully understood all relevant processes and requirements

Required Skills & Experience:
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills
•Experience of using IT systems and databases
•Experience in training and managing people, and in giving constructive feedback
•Demonstrated analytical ability, including the management of data
•Good knowledge in handling objections and reducing conflict in difficult situations in a professional and polite manner
•Have a strong interest in the effect that Media has on its audience
