Salary: £30 per hour

This role will provide engineering and technical support to design, develop and implement manufacturing production processes to enable successful launch of new products, ensuring feasibility of all designs to suit manufacturing build requirements, Design for Assembly (DFA) and create a Bill of Process (BOP).

Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, specification, installation and delivery of manufacturing production equipment, processes and facilities that meet our quality, volume and cost targets.
  • During the engineering process from its conception through to delivery ensuring that all metrics including Points in Specified Tolerance, Process Performance and Process Capability and Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, People and Environment objectives are met
  • Lead the manufacturing activity through the engineering change process from its conception through to final approval, this will include facilitating line trials through to the final validation of a complex facility modification, where lessons learned are captured and shared with relevant stakeholders
  • Responsibility for the development, maintenance, validation and approval of Standardised Work Instructions
  • Identify opportunities & implement plans which pro-actively drive engineering continuous improvement whilst ensuring a logical & rigorous response to emerging issues identified through audit
  • Work on improvement plans / glide paths for external customer performance
  • Support the Business Planning cycle by playing an active role in the short to long term
  • To interface across functional areas and production to overcome challenges and present clear solutions with a strong business case to senior management
  • Develop and conduct regular reviews of Process Failure Modes & Effects Analysis / Control plan / process capability to ensure the equipment is capable of continually delivering a quality product to our customer that exceeds their expectations
  • Develop and monitor the design and installation project timing plans and manage expenditure budgets through effective financial control.
  • Undertake any other work as directed by their line manager in connection with their job as may be requested
  • Co-ordinate the support of physical builds at assembly plant locations, raising and managing issues where appropriate.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential:

  • Familiar with low volume manufacture
  • Relevant previous experience of Manufacturing / Engineering processes, tools and techniques including consistent delivery of productivity targets in Manufacturing
  • Experience of management and analysis of data and cost benefits, the production of metrics, the development of plans with defined objectives, and structured problem solving.
  • Proven talent for presenting solutions and leading teams to deliver process improvements
  • Knowledge of Integrated Production System, Quality Operating system, Global Study Process Allocation System audit compliance
  • Experience in the application of a logical approach to Problem Solving
  • Adept at managing and prioritising multiple activities simultaneously
  • Experience and working knowledge of Health and Safety Audits and ergonomics including risk assessments.
  • Previous experience of working in an Industrial Engineer role gained in the Automotive Industry
  • Previous experience of engineering tools and techniques to achieve programme targets
  • Previous experience of working with Product Development and Manufacturing Engineering processes

Desirable:

  • Experience of Launch in Manufacturing
  • Microsoft package elements Power Point & Excel
  • Understanding of Statistical Process control, control plans
  • Experience of Dimensional Maturation and Build Integrity
  • An individual who enables speed in decision making through establishing alignment, clarity, appropriate resources and sense of urgency whilst bringing others along
