F1rst Commercial Recruitment

Salary: £60,000 per year

Based in Manchester, our client is a respected and well-connected training, consultancy and digital transformation services provider who is at the forefront of modern digital training for Manufacturers across the North West and beyond.

Supporting the delivery of various digital advancement programmes specifically for the manufacturing sector, they help SMEs and start-up manufacturing businesses who may not have previously considered implementing industrial digital technologies across their business.

How? By supporting, creating, and delivering digital skills and innovation programmes for manufacturers both large and small.

This is to ensure that businesses of all sizes can capitalise on, and be at the forefront of the new industrial age and ultimately ensure they build on increased productivity, reduce down times and maintain a longer-term bias towards digital inclusion for their workforce.

With all that in mind, they are looking to recruit an exceptional manufacturing industry programme manager to support the exponential growth of various training programmes across the manufacturing sector.

These programmes have been specifically designed in conjunction with Universities and Consortiums and the primary objective of this Programme manager is to ensure that the learning journey of the Manufacturing companies involved is not only achieved but accelerated.

The aim is to ensure that companies are able to make the most of what is on offer to them and are given the support, direction and digital innovation tools to be able to improve on current performance and output levels.

The great thing about this role is that it’s newly created, reporting directly to the CEO. So there are no footsteps to follow and you would play an integral part in forging new paths for both this business and the manufacturing companies you’d be helping with improving digital innovation.

The important thing to be aware of is that whilst new roles will give you much more freedom to make it your own, they can often be more challenging initially. There will be a lot to learn and robust processes and procedures need to be built whilst delivering desired outcomes, so it’s certainly not one for the feint hearted. However, if you work hard and smart, there is real potential to be part of something in the early stages and build a very exciting future for yourself.

Whilst there is fluidity within the role, some of the duties will encompass:

* Managing the design and delivery of Manufacturing Industry programmes, pulling on and bringing together the expertise and experience of the company and its team members to produce high quality plans

* Building strong partner and stakeholder relationships and client development

* Coordinating team resources to deliver high quality content (this includes discussion documents, programme designs, programme plans, external facing materials and more)

* Supporting the team with day to day Industry programmes activity, including action trackers, risk logs and programme plans

* Proactively utilising creative problem solving and critical thinking to overcome challenges in programme delivery, taking accountability of programme objectives and risks

* Maintaining oversight of programme activities, mobilising resources proactively in order to deliver well organised and planned events and activities

Ultimately, the need is for you to take the lead in ensuring companies get superb support for the relevant training programmes (both funded and paid for) and the ability to think strategically about future opportunities and thus mobilising operational tasks to take advantage of such opportunities.

The experience and skill set we are looking for includes:

* Specific experience in the Engineering and Manufacturing sector either from industry experience, consultancy experience or applied academia

* Successful track record of delivery leadership as a programme manager, consultant or working directly in industry on innovation specific programmes

* Experience of scoping and leading innovation programmes aimed at SMEs for the purpose of transforming their operations, implementing new technology, or undergoing cultural change

* Demonstrable experience of building sustainable relationships with stakeholders, with evidence of a strong network across the Greater Manchester business growth and innovation ecosystem

* Ability to forecast costs and manage to programme timelines and budgets

* Experience of generating a vision, establishing direction and motivating people

* Awareness of different approaches to programme design, programme management and programme delivery

* Ability to work flexibly across multiple programmes and initiatives

* Ability to rapidly mobilise programmes of varying sizes, and managing resources across various workstreams whilst delivering on time and on budget

* Practical and output focused approach, with a desire to make a difference

* Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills

* Experience of working collaboratively with external teams and subject matter experts to benefit programme delivery and programme design

* Experience of working within large, complex programmes and leading teams

* Proven experience of effectively coaching, mentoring and developing others

* Motivated to deliver, with an innovative approach

In return you can expect:

* Circa £60,000salary

* 10% Bonus

* 28 days holiday (3 saved for Christmas) + Bank Holidays

* Car allowance considered

* Contributory pension Scheme
