Client Summary:
I am currently recruiting for a Manufacturing Engineer to join a global engineering organisation based in Ilford. This role, working under the guidance of the Methods Manager, will be responsible for providing the technical support on various railway rolling stock projects.
Key Responsibilities
-Improve manufacturing efficiency through the implementation of competitive and innovative new methods and processes.
-Ensure project compliance against customer specifications, engineering specifications, drawings and current legislation.
-Support the site functions in delivering all of its projects safely, on time, to the quality standards set and at a competitive cost.
-Undertake project first fit outs.
-Manage and resolve technical queries in a timely manner.
-Create Bills of Materials.
-Create Labour estimates.
-Create and maintain manufacturing documentation.
-Produce work record books and work instructions.
-Design and implementation of jigs, tooling, stillages.
-Design of material kits required for use by production teams.
-Work with site teams on process improvement initiatives.
-Evaluate technical specifications and produce reports as required.
-Undertake technical investigations working with site teams, suppliers and customers
-Assist with the compiling of bid data.
-Asses customer variations with a view to implementing.
-Perform other duties as assigned by the Methods Manager.
Required Skills and Experience
-Apprenticeship/HNC in an engineering discipline.
-Good communication and presentation skills.
-Possess previous experience of working within the rail industry or a heavy engineering company.
-Possess a high level of commitment and ability to work on his/her own initiative and to tight deadlines, whilst demonstrating a flexible approach, particularly in relation to working hours and location.
-Have strong computer skills in Microsoft Excel, Word and Project.
