Literacy & Training Development Consultant

Our client is a not-for-profit charitable foundation who now seek an individual to join their team to deliver high quality literacy training and support to staff in schools. The role involves being able to analyse and report on the progress of school implementation, providing regular updates and evaluating reports and developing appropriate teaching materials in line with the company’s existing training delivery packages – building an effective partnership with the schools to ensure successful outcomes. Mostly working with primaries and some middle schools, the programs are particularly effective for schools with a high proportion of disadvantaged children, because it improves attainment by improving behaviour. The consultant will work with the school to evaluate current performance, plan the implementation of the programme, and measure its impact.

The position is 3 to 4 days in school with days not training being homebased. All schools are passed to the consultant to liaise with directly and will be based in the North: current schools for this role are Sheffield, Hull and Manchester but could be anywhere in the Northern region so flexibility is paramount. Initial training and shadowing of other colleagues in place during the induction period. Hours of work are flexible and dependent on workload but while in schools will involve long days. 40 days plus statutory holidays per year. Salary is £42,000per annum.

The successful applicant will have a background in education, ideally as an ex-teacher and possibly been at senior leadership level in primary.
The applicant must be able to demonstrate the ability to communicate with confidence and be able to maintain and build credibility in each consultation.
