Health and Safety Coordinator

Salary: £26,000 – £27,000 per year

We are currently working in partnership with a Manufacturing Business with are looking to employ a permanent Health and Safety Coordinator to support the Operational team to raise maintain a high level of health, safety and environmental objectives in line with the Health, Safety and Environmental objectives. This key role will be responsible for the general safety systems onsite and will ensure that the staff team, employees, contractors and visitors are kept safe.

Have the ability and confidence to provide advice on health and safety matters and provide guidance and support where required.

Duties and Responsibilities

* Controlling the health and safety policy throughout the business

* To conduct regular internal health and safety audits

* Assisting with external health and safety audits

* To set up safe working practises and handbooks as required

* To ensure a safe workplace for employees, contractors, and visitors

* To ensure that safe working practises are in place

* To communicate all standard working practises and ensure compliance

* To promote health and safety standards through the business

* To prevent any risks to health or wellbeing

* Ensure that plant and machinery is safe to use

* To ensure the safe storage, handling and use of materials

* Provide adequate first aid facilities, equipment, and provision

* To ensure the correct capital equipment is maintained and used following the standards set in place

* To control and prevent the exposure of staff to harmful substance

* Provision to PPE (protective clothing or equipment) to employees, visitors and contractors

* Monitoring of accidents, incidents and near missed within the workplace

* Updating of accident reports

* Implementing corrective action to avoid further risks

* To working as part of the extended management to provide updates and reports on a weekly and monthly basis

* To champion safe working practise and to enforce health and safety policy throughout the business

* NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent

* Experience in a Health and Safety role (1 year minimum)

* IT Literate – Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc

* Excellent communication skills with Senior Managers, Clients and Site Personnel
