Health and Safety Advisor

We are recruiting on behalf of a prestigious London University. The post is permanent. The role will report to the Faculty H & S manager (Science and Engineering Faculty (SAE)).

The purpose of this role is to provide the support to the SAE Faculty Health and Safety Manager, who is also the Radiation Protection Officer (RPO) and University lead for chemical safety, in the provision of a comprehensive health and safety advisory service across the five Schools within the SAE Faculty.

The post provides an opportunity to develop skills also in radiation protection. Applicants may already be working in a radiation protection role, but we also welcome applicants with practical experience in one or more areas of radiation work and a good understanding of basic radiation protection.

The role will support the RPO in the management of use of all radioactive substances and equipment in relation to relevant permits held ) and in compliance with relevant regulations. The role will also involve the assisting the Faculty Manager (SAE) in all aspects of chemical and biological safety, and management of the central campus chemical waste stores.

The Health and Safety Advisor will help deliver H&S training across the University, particular in specific university wide remits, COSHH, DSEAR, Radiation) and will assist with H&S management in monitoring activities such as H&S audits, inspections, safety tours and incident investigations.
