We’re looking for a talented Generator Service Engineer to work for our client.
They want to recruit someone with demonstrable experience in maintaining their standby diesel generator sets.
If that’s you then you could be exactly what they’re looking for.
Furthermore, they pride themselves on their ability to develop engineers. If you don’t have experience working as an ‘out and out’ Generator Engineer then don’t worry, this role may still be for you. Some of their skilled engineers first gained engine experience from a variety of other fields. These include auto mechanics, heavy goods vehicle technicians, and marine engineers to name a few.
The Role:
The Generator Service Engineer role is home-based. Reporting to the Team Leader, you will be primarily responsible for servicing customers’ own diesel generators ranging from 30kva – 1800kva.
In the job you’ll be tasked with the following:
– Fault finding diesel engine fuel systems and ancillary equipment
– Load bank testing equipment
– Fault finding of 12/24volt and 240/415volt electrical systems
Working Week: Monday to Friday 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM. Overtime to be paid at 1.5 after 8 hours during the week and up to 1 o’clock Saturday. Double time paid from 1 o’clock Saturday up till 12 o’clock midnight Sunday.
The Candidate:
The ideal candidate for this Generator Service Engineer role will have relevant experience in maintaining diesel generator sets from 30kva to 1800kva.
You’ll also need experience of:
– generator controls and fault finding of 12/24volt and 240/415volt electrical systems
– fault-finding diesel engine fuel systems and ancillary equipment
– Working with portable load bank testing equipment
– completing service inspections and identifying potential defects that could result in equipment failure
In addition, you’ll need good interpersonal & communicating skills, a flexible approach to work/clients’ needs, and be able to work both independently and as part of a service team.

The Package:
Basic salary: Up to £39,360per annum
The candidate will be expected to agree to be on call currently 1/6 a standby fee of £12 Monday to Friday and £30 for weekends is paid and a call out fee of £25 is also paid for Monday until 13:00 Saturday and £50 from 13:00 to midnight Sunday.
Caveat the £25 call-out fee is only paid if the call-out is outside of the core 8 hr working day.
