Main Purpose of the Job:
Reporting to the Finance Ledger Team Supervisor, the role holder’s main purpose is to:-
- Produce daily reconciliations for all Vertas Group bank accounts in line with financial reporting deadlines.
- Investigating any timing differences and report / escalate as appropriate to team leader
- Daily posting of sales receipts to the sales ledger ensuring internal customer reports are up to date.
- Posting journals and purchase payments to ensure all transactions through the bank are input into the finance system.
- Maintain the cashflows to ensure they are up to date when reviewed biweekly by the financial reporting team.
- Reconcile cash in transit balances and produce reports for management in line with financial reporting deadlines.

Main Activities and Responsibilities:
The primary responsibilities / duties of this role are:-
- Run bank statements from the Barclays.net online system, saving them down in the shared file.
- Post cash receipts on the sales daybook, allocating these correctly to the outstanding sales invoices, using customer remittance advices for reference.
- Manage and organise the Vertas remittance advise mailbox.
- Ensure purchase payments which have been processed onto the system have come out of the bank correctly.
- Post journals for other items which are processed through the bank such as pension and payroll pay overs, cash sales from sites and intercompany funding.
- Produce monthly bank reconciliation reports for signoff at month end.
- Reconcile the bank up to date daily so a bank reconciliation could be run if required.
- Post monthly sales returns for catering sites into the finance system on nominal journals, ensuring any banking discrepancies are flagged back to the operational team.
- Update each entities cashflow with the daily incoming and outgoing transactions from the bank and roll over the cashflows at the end of every two week review period.
- Manage the G4S requirements for cash handling, working with operations managers to ensure smooth service
- Manage the cash banking stationary
- Reconcile cash in transit and produce monthly reconciliations for the financial period close
- Ad hoc duties within the transactional financial team to support the ledger team manager as necessary – including support with ledger close process.
- Cover for the credit control team, supporting the Credit control supervisor where necessary with customer receipt posting.
