Salary: £26,000 per year

Job Title: Accounts Officer

Location: South Darenth, Kent

Salary: £19,000 – £20,000 (dependent on experience)

Position: Full Time, Permanent

Job Role:

Our Client is a leader in vehicle safety systems with a comprehensive range of products to reduce the risk of collision and maximise efficiency, including camera monitor systems, reversing alarms, ultrasonic proximity sensors, digital recorders and a thermal image camera.

They are currently looking to recruit for an Accounts Officer to work in their office based in South Darenth. You’ll be working within a small team, assisting with the production of accounts and running of the purchase/sales ledgers across multiple companies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process supplier invoices, ensuring they are coded, logged via Purchase Order system (Navision) or matched to existing PO, authorised, checked and released/posted, and scanned, ready for payment. Copy to overseas Accountants if required.
  • Process expense claims, ensuring they are checked, authorised & coded, before accurately entering them onto the accounts systems (Navision). Maintain record for P11Ds in Group. Copy to overseas Accountants if required.
  • Setting up payments both domestic and international, assisting with the weekly payment runs as required, and post all payments to the ledgers. To include Import loans, charity aid type payments. – Update payment report.
  • Process customers daily sales invoices/credits and monthly statements, ensure e-mailed or posted to customers, copy to overseas Accountants if required. Deal with return orders.
  • Credit control checks and debt chasing.
  • Petty cash
  • Bank balance monitoring
  • Cash receipt posting
  • Compile Bank reconciliations, inter-company reconciliations, VAT returns
  • Cover for other team members
  • Project work as required.

Education and Training

  • Studying AAT or looking to study
  • (At least 5 GCSEs with Maths and English to grade C or above)
  • High level literacy, numeracy and accuracy
  • Good understanding of book-keeping and office practice
  • Above average computer literacy
  • Sound business common sense
  • Keen intellect, yet practically analytical

Experience and Skills

  • Mnimum 1 years in SIMILAR accounts role
  • Familiar with modern IT based accounting systems
  • Good MS Excel skills
  • Team working

  • Flexibility to work beyond business hours when necessary

Communication & language skills

  • The ability to communicate effectively with people for whom English is not their first language is important, as is the ability to appreciate the differences between US English and UK English. Sensitivity to the varying business practices in different countries is required.
  • A foreign language would be an advantage but is not essential.
