Salary: £60,000 – £72,000 per year

This challenging and exciting opportunity, based in either Yorkshire or the North East, requires a highly qualified electrical professional possessing a strong technical background, a previous career as an SAP and demonstrable experience in operating as a Chief Engineer, Lead Engineer or Engineering Manager from within any area of the HV power sector. This can be from having worked for a client side DNO or a contractor.

Due to an increase in contract awards, a significant forward order workload, and a dedication to continued profitable long-term growth, our client is now seeking to appoint an experienced Engineering Manager for their power division.

The role will take overall accountability of electrical safety management for all planned and unplanned workstream activities on LV, HV and EHV DNO, iDNO and private networks. You will additionally take responsibility for the management and development of a multi-skilled team of engineers whilst holding ‘1st Engineer’ status. You will also lead the operational development and improvement of all electrical safety management-related activities. You will join a flexible, exciting and extremely stable company with significant new contract wins to ensure total work satisfaction and security.

The Role, Responsibilities & Requirements

* Overall responsibility for all electrical safety management, including the on-going control, management and improvement of the company’s electrical Distribution Safety Rules, electrical authorisations and electrical safety procedures

* Hold responsibility for electrical operational compliance

* Lead the improvement and enhancement of electrical safety management performance

* Maximise colleague productivity by aligning skills and authorisations with current and future work opportunities

* Development of technical colleagues through the control and management of the company’s electrical approval and assessment processes (as designated Authorising Engineer) for the issuing of electrical authority codes and be the responsible manager for NERS accreditations

* Drive continuous improvement in operational safety excellence through proactive audit and assessment of delivery performance

* Continued assessment of the company’s electrical safety rules, policies and procedures in line with DNO, iDNO and industry standards

* Ensure policy and procedural compliance and documentation and retention is achieved by all relevant engineers through effective audit and assessment regimes

* Produce a continuous pipeline of engineers who are progressively upskilled to meet current and future work programme demands

* Provide clear evidence of effective and frequent performance reviews and executable development plans, utilising performance feedback from Operations Managers

* Assure technical competency frameworks are effectively calibrated and implemented for engineering disciplines

* Produce talent profiles of all resources maintained, with high growth potential assessed and actively managed

* Ensure productivity and safety targets are delivered
