Salary: £66,000 – £69,600 per year
This growing electromechanical engineering business that specialises in electromechanical engineering repairs and maintenance of pumps, motors, gearboxes, valves, and other rotating equipment is seeking an Engineering Manager for their site in Cardiff. You will report into the Regional Engineering Manager and manage the Workshop Manager, an Admin Manager, and their direct reports of over 24 on the shop floor daily. Your role involves:-
- Directly lead, manage, and drive forward the technical service offering of the Cardiff Engineering team as the primary point of contact with clients, understanding their requirements.
- Responsible as line manager for the dedicated workshop teams and work/project deliverables. Key role in the quotation and estimating of costs and selling price for site and project work.
- Overseeing the workshop and an element of site work
- To ensure that all works are undertaken safely and that reports operate as required and complete and record tasks in-line with statutory, company and client requirements. To maintain health and safety KPIs and improve safety behaviours in area of control.
- To ensure that repairs/ projects are delivered to the time scales and costs agreed. To keep the client informed as to the progress to manage and exceed expectations.
- The successful candidate will be responsible for producing quotations and understanding the technical specification.
- The successful candidate will be responsible for liaising with colleagues to ensure that all materials and spare parts are available as required.
- The successful candidate will be responsible for accurate forecasting and WIP management
- Estimating and quotation standards in line with clients demands. Lead the team in gathering costs for parts and sub-contracted services and to develop and publish quotations.
- Staff development by identifying staff training requirements
- Managing equipment and processes by identifying new equipment and process requirements
- Customer Service focused including understanding customer service levels and contractual responsibilities, such as TCO, RCA, specific reporting and quoting / WIP progress.
- Managing the P&L of the workshop as well as setting goals and objectives and managing work coming in and out of the Workshop
- Managing efficiencies and streamlining processes

To apply you will have: –
- Engineering management experience, either within a workshop, manufacturing, or site-based experience
- Leadership experience and managed people
- An entrepreneurial background, demonstrated your ability to streamline and implement new processes and make improvements where necessary
- Either an electro or mechanical engineering management background
- Experience of managing P&L as well as costing/pricing up work
- Ideally experience of rotating equipment/pumps/motors/gearboxes/automation experience
- One to one/appraisals and people management is essential.
- Full technical understanding of the core product and service areas covered
- Strong background in all aspects of engineering services
