Salary: £18 – £24 per hour
Our client in the Leicestershire area is looking for a Division manager for 3 months with the option to turn into a permanent position. He/she will be expected to make a major contribution to the technical excellence and successful performance of the facility and to perform his/her duties in a competent manner commensurate with his/her qualifications and experience.
Duties and Responsibilities
Essential:
Responsible for the care, welfare, husbandry of genetically altered rodents within specialized barrier systems,
Responsible for the successful maintenance of rodent breeding or experimental programs.
To Manage, motivate and monitor the performance of the animal technicians
To Keep up to date with any new legislation and ensure processes and practices are updat-ed in line with new legislation.
To manage the maintenance of all records, putting in place procedures to ensure they are kept up to date and meet legal requirements.
To implement defined Standard Operational Procedures (SOPs)
Responsible for the upkeep and housekeeping of the animal unit.
Ensuring that the Health and Safety requirements are continually met by keeping up to date with legal requirements, assessing all working practices for level of risk and regularly review process
Maintaining all breeding and experimental records within a database system to appropriate standards, updating researchers/directors as to breeding performance of specific strains
Experience & Qualifications
Essential
Proven Supervisory experience in an animal facility
IAT Level 3 qualifications.
Ability to keep accurate records
Good communication skills
Desirable
Personal Licensee
Detailed and practical knowledge of ASPA and Health and Safety legislation
Detailed knowledge of breeding of genetically altered rodents
