Main Responsibilities

The role of Distribution Coordinator will form part of a team that are critical to the delivery of a professional distribution service to our customers, devising a schedule that accounts for the needs of the customer, optimisation of the plant network and most cost-effective use of the vehicle fleet.

As a Distribution Coordinator you’ll be responsible for:

• Looking after Readymix deliveries for multiple major construction projects across the Northwest, Lancashire, and Yorkshire
• Effectively planning and scheduling the programme of works ensuring timely delivery of orders against agreed timeframes with the customers whilst optimising cost through effective truck utilisation
• Providing customers with progress information of deliveries, in particular immediate notification of late loads and responding positively & confidently to our customers’ enquires, seeking support where necessary
• Monitoring real time progress of scheduled orders allowing you to identify potential problem areas and proactively resolve them effectively
• Working in a large team to ensure excellent customer service is always delivered whilst building and maintaining solid working relationships with customers, suppliers, plant staff, contract hauliers and colleagues
• Accurately processing all order information, maintaining the system effectively, ensuring information is regularly updated and accurate
• Liaising with plants to ensure raw materials are in place to meet the forecast order and delivery schedule
• Adhering to company Health & Safety procedures at all times

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate for the role of Distribution Coordinator will demonstrate previous customer service experience ideally working within a fast-paced scheduling, transport or distribution environment. To succeed as Distribution Coordinator you will also:

• Possess excellent communication skills and be able to liaise with stakeholders at all levels
• Be hard working and self-motivated, with a real desire to develop their own skills
• Demonstrate good attention to detail
• Be able to work independently and as part of the wider Transport team
• Effectively prioritise multiple & sometimes conflicting issues
• Operate a varied range of IT systems, including scheduling systems
• Be flexible in their working approach
• Be resilient and able to remain calm when working under pressure
• Be Health & Safety conscious
