Deployment and Distribution Manager
Full job description
Solutions Driven
Salary: £26,000 – £28,800 per year
Deployment and Distribution Executive, FMCG, Cumbernauld, Scotland
Phenomenal! One of the most exciting brands in the UK beverages market has an opportunity for an ambitious and proactive Deployment and Distribution Executive to join the Supply Planning team at their flagship site in Cumbernauld.
Solutions Driven is working in exclusive partnership with AG Barr to develop and expand their Demand and Supply Planning teams as they look to deliver optimal planning and delivery of their products nationwide.
AG Barr continues to invest in the development of a best fit Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) process and related tools, having already made significant improvements in this area. One of the key areas within this is the Supply Planning team: managed by the Supply Planning Manager. Within this team the Deployment and Distribution Executive (DDE) will play a key role in the development of the deployment and inventory plan and the achievement of the agreed targets. The role is specifically concerned with the management and movement of inventory within the AGB network i.e. manufacturing sites and warehouses (including intermediate warehouses). The DDE plays a key role in the achievement of inventory targets and has to team effectively with the other members of the Supply Planning team on a day to day basis to ensure effective execution of the plan. The Deployment and Distribution Executive needs to be able to effectively collaborate within the Supply Planning team and the wider Supply Chain Planning and Customer Service team in order to execute the role successfully.
There is a strong onus on the Deployment and Distribution Executive to support the DDM in the delivery of deployment and inventory performance improvement. This will be especially true in relation to the processes and tools that are utilised within the team, with the development of better tools being a significant part of the role. As such, a high level of skill with Mircosoft Excel (e.g. modelling and analytics) and a level of insight in relation to continuous improvement techniques is a key requirement. The DDE must have the ability to work with a high level of attention to detail, as well as the capability to provide input into the strategic thinking that will be driven by the SPM and DDM. The DDE will provide the first line of support to the DDM in the development of the ways of working within the team as well as being required to input into the development of the wider supply aspects of the S&OP framework. In the main, this will entail engaging with the members of the Supply Chain Planning team, but may also include the requirement to interact with other stakeholders such as central Logistics, CDT and the contracted 3rd party logistics provider.
The role requires a strong analytical mind-set, with the ability to plan deployment and inventory from AGB created tools, rather than a COTS package. The key drivers for the DDE will be the balancing of the competing aims of achieving a high level of customer service (availability and perfect order) and ensuring alignment to the agreed inventory targets and logistics costs. The capability to balance these two competing elements will require skills such as deep analytics; collaborative way of working; management of nuance / uncertainty and the ability to engage with key actors / information within the supply chain.
