Our Client is a multi sector speciality distributor of raw materials and chemicals to the UK Manufacturing Industry.

They are now seeking an Account Manager (External) – Chemicals. This position will be Field based with regular travel and also visits to the local site. The territory is North London, Hertfordshire and South Essex. It is a full-time permanent role reporting to the Sales Manager.

Job Purpose

  • To contribute to the achievement and maximisation of agreed budgeted Gross Margin by managing and developing sales to new and existing customer relationships

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the delivery of monthly / quarterly / annual EBITDA, cash flow and budgeted targets using effective sales techniques and the company’s sales procedures
  • Manage key accounts against set targets, including mandatory face to face sales call quotas each month
  • Open and develop new trading accounts
  • Maintain a sales plan for the area, monitoring and mapping time scales and actions required to achieve growth.
  • Maintain appropriate level of product knowledge, including attendance at product training
  • Continually seek new market and product sales opportunities
  • Liaise with appropriate BDMs to maximise sales opportunities
  • Monitor, evaluate and report on competitor’s activities in order to identify sales opportunities
  • Contribute to industry and company product development to maximise sales opportunities
  • Liaise and work closely with other members of the sales team to ensure the customer’s requirements are fulfilled efficiently and effectively
  • Attend appropriate Sales meetings and reviews
  • Completion of Visit Reports on a daily basis, allowing relevant members of the sales support team to follow up any actions
  • Completion of Monthly Reports within the defined period, including analysis of the sales area and details supporting numbers
  • Ensure that the targets for quantity and quality of customer appointments and visits are met.
  • Ensure CRM and sales pipeline are maintained, accurate and up to date.
  • Contribute to the budgeting process by forecasting sales and profit within the sales area.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree (or equivalent) in Business, Chemistry or relevant field would be desirable
  • Previous experience as an Account Manager ideally within the Chemical industry or similar
  • Proven track record in building sales figures and margins within a competitive and mature market
  • Knowledge of strategic relationship management
  • Knowledge of selling principles
  • Ability to demonstrate effective sales techniques
  • Ability to organise the day-to-day sales activities of key accounts
  • Ability to engage a varied customer base
  • Tenacious and adaptable
  • Ability to contribute effectively in a target driven environment.
  • Pragmatic approach
  • Prioritise, delegate, monitor and follow up.
  • Communicate well at all levels both internal and external
  • Full British Driving Licence (held for minimum of 12 months)

In return, our Client is offering a salary of £38,400 per annum basic plus benefits including Car and generous Bonus Scheme (up to 50%).
