Business Systems Developer – SQL Server – Crystal Reports

DESCRIPTION

• 3 years programming / commercial experience

• Experience of developing web based, database driven solutions

• Familiarity with legal case or matter management applications or similar workflow solutions

• Integration experience within the Microsoft Office environment

• Experience of developing / maintaining management information and reporting systems.

• Thorough knowledge of reporting tools such as SQL Reporting Services, QlikView or Crystal Reports

• An awareness of the software development lifecycle, and software development standards

• Able to work as part of a team

• Well-developed interpersonal skills, able to communicate well both in business and technical terms

• A willingness to learn

• Ability to demonstrate excellent customer service skills

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Primary Responsibility:

The development, customisation and maintenance of application software and associated reporting solutions. The effective implementation of new or updated systems and the provision of high level application support in respect of calls escalated via the IT helpdesk.

Main Duties:

• Undertaking discovery and business analysis of end user requirements, producing high level specifications / wireframe / proof of concept demonstrations. Review requirements ongoing, iterating solutions development in line with the business need.

• Development and maintenance of application software within SOS Connect case and matter management system
.
• Development of web based (Intranet, Internet and Extranet) database driven applications and reporting solutions.

• Using reporting tools such as SQL Reporting Services, Crystal Reports, QlikView and Excel to create and maintain both simple and complex reporting solutions.

• Creation and maintenance of data warehouses and associated extraction routines.

• High level database administration (creating databases, views, summary tables, stored procedures in support of application development.)

• The set up and maintenance of integration solutions between various systems (SOS, MS Office, Intranet, Extranet, client applications.)

• To undertake planned maintenance and enhancement requests to existing applications.

• To provide application support in relation to calls escalated from the helpdesk

• To undertake application testing prior to release.

• Close liaison with the technical support and training teams (outsourced) in terms of implementation and embedding.

• Technical documentation of developments

• Evaluation and recommendation of commercially available software

• To provide demonstrations and train the trainer skills transfer in relation to new or updated systems.

The development environment combines:

• SOS Connect v5.17 (Progress database with proprietary integrated.Net development environment – similar to VB.net used for the development of Finance based workflow and reporting solutions)

• SQL Server 2012 including Reporting Services

• VB.net, C#.net, ASP.net

• QlikView Business Discovery / Reporting System

• Crystal Reports

Integration with Microsoft Office 2010
