Business Development Manager – Catering

My client was established and The Senior Management Team have been delivering meals in this sector for more than 100 combined years and as a division they do not provide catering services to any sector other than education. They have an approximate turnover of 40 million, with their global parent company being the UK’s largest facilities services provider, employing more than 500,000 people and revenues of more than 830 million per annum.

Offering a unique fresh food approach to the education market, they believe the quality of their food, service and people competes with the very best the industry has to offer.

Due to growth they are looking to appoint a Business Development Manager to build brand awareness, build a healthy and profitable pipeline of business and bid all relevant opportunities

The role will be based from home office covering the UK. The role will be 70% new business development within the education sector level and 30% retender.

The predominate focus will be to bid a bespoke catering and/or cleaning solution on a contractual basis as either a stand-alone service or as part of a group LEA contact.There are two main routes to market, tender opportunities and retenders.

The position will require you to identify education catering and cleaning tender opportunities and decided whether to bid or no bid. PQQ’s and bids will then be led by the BDM with a team to support the writing, costing and operational offering. A robust pipeline of key opportunities must be built and be transparent.

The role requires three main targets to be achieved, firstly financial turnover, secondly conversion and thirdly activity.

The average sales cycle is 3 -6 months, with the value of sale ranging between £500,000 – 2.5 million
The BDM will play a key role in building a healthy and productive workforce.

To apply you must have experience in the catering sector in either a sales or operational position. You must have the ability to engage and communicate at all levels, possess excellent presentation, negotiation and influencing skills.
