Our Client is a UK based company specialising in private medical insurance provided to the UK market and they are looking to recruit a Business Development Manager to join their busy team.
Business Development Manager – North East
This is a Field Sales role and you will be working from home, so you will need to have your own car and full driving license.
Ideally, our client is looking for someone who has experience in Financial Services but the client will also consider out of industry business.
The main purpose of the Business Development Manager role:
To identify, manage and develop a panel of intermediary firms to exceed Franchise Sales Targets for the company product range.
Report to: Franchise Director
Main tasks of the Business Development Manager role:
Relationship Management (External)
Manage and develop business relationships to agree and gain commitment to support the company products, to achieve sales targets.
Actively identify areas of account development and deliver appropriate solutions to maximise sales within the area.
Presentation of sales ideas and technical training to groups of intermediaries as required predominantly face to face or video call (teams, Zoom etc)
Maintain credibility with external relationships through knowledge of their business and market place.
Develop positive business relationships with all allocated accounts, ensuring quality business outcomes.
Ensures that the company product range is selected as a preferred supplier by all advisers in all accounts.
Develops good understanding and maintains up to date knowledge of competitor activity, products and services and utilises this to build rapport and trust with advisers.
Maintains and develops comprehensive Industry knowledge, understands market trends, and applies this to maximise business opportunities.
Relationship Management (Internal)
Develop relationships with appropriate Head Office business areas to ensure buy into the needs of your accounts.
Actively seek out those who can influence your business and develop a professional and trusting relationship.
Develop a good and effective working relationship with all members of your local team to provide and obtain beneficial mutual support.
Develop strong relationships with the National Account Managers responsible for managing the relationships of key networks and seek their support to influence your accounts.
Sales and Commercial Management
Delivers agreed business targets for new business, operating within any defined budget.
Achieves appropriate spread of business each month and operates in a viable manner as defined by the Franchise Director.
Identifies and promotes profitable new business opportunities across all intermediary product lines.
Fully understands the business plans and strategic objectives of the company’s North team and the company nationally.
Influence and work with the Franchise Director and the company Business Specialists to identify and maximise sales opportunities, meet targets and increase the profitability of the business.
Regular contact with internal parties to ensure the smooth running of account relationship.
Uses effective sales promotional/hospitality and campaign tools as appropriate.
Manage key cases and significant new business enquiries, to ensure effective conversion of a high-quality business.
Development Planning
Analyses information and ensures business plans are implemented effectively.
Regularly reviews and updates business plans to implement remedial action where necessary.
Maintains appropriate records of meetings, events, and essential data in respect of all accounts utilising appropriate software.
Ensuring that FCA and internal regulatory standards are met.
Maximising productivity and results by effectively managing time.
Personal Development
Obtain appropriate industry qualifications – LP2 Mandatory for this role required within 12 months of start date.
Maintaining knowledge, skills, and personal performance to the required standards through a full training and competence scheme approach.
Agree on Personal Development plan with Director and regularly review and update.
Specific Role Knowledge / Qualifications
Educated to Degree level
O level/GCSE Maths and English
Preferably at least two years of industry experience or can demonstrate a track record in sales to third parties.
Experience and knowledge of the IFA industry
Self-driven and ability to work on own initiative and to an agreed business plan.
Knowledge of main Microsoft packages.
Awareness of MS Teams or other company software
Ability to negotiate and build relationships to achieve results.
Working hours: 9am to 5pm
