Salary: £78,000 – £90,000 per year
Area General Manager – Permanent – FTTP/Openreach/PIA
We are looking for an Area General Manager to head up a Regional Build and Install team to deliver 10,000’s Homes Passed per year ensuring the best quality and all Health & Safety standards are met. The role requires a hands-on Manager who can drive a small regionally based team supplemented by Subcontract labour requiring a good understanding of rolling out ultrafast fibre Broadband networks at scale.
Key Objectives of the Role:
* Ensure the small regional team is ‘warm, fed & watered’ allowing the rapid rollout of full fibre broadband within a 1-hour radius of a regional office
* Be the ‘go to’ person for the region, mentoring and advising the team to achieve it’s targets
* Forecasting for materials and headcount to ensure the most efficient rollout plan
* Work closely with Sub Contractors and direct reports alike to get the best from each
* Reporting progress and financial performance upwards into National Build Director
* Escalation point for all Local Councils and Highways for the region and responsible to drive to a target of zero FPN’s
Operational Accountabilities:
* Delivers activities to support operational objectives for their specific contract, project or specialism
* Operates within agreed operational and/or management guidelines
* Interacts with client or users around specific work efforts and deliverables
* Manages the activities of others to meet deadlines and quality standards taking account of impact outside area of responsibility
* Focus of work is predominantly against defined targets but performs a range of tasks from complex to straightforward
Financial Accountabilities:
* Identifies ways to reduce cost and improve service
Knowledge and Applied Skills:
* Extensive working knowledge of a fibre build through significant job experience & training on site
* Experience of working within street works, Openreach’s Duct & Pole network
* Extensive and detailed knowledge of Openreach Passive Infrastructure Access product
Additional Role Information:
* Relevant experience within the Telecommunications arena, with proven track record of successful delivery of large scale Telecom Projects.
* Demonstrate the ability to talk the ‘same language’ as Industry leaders as well as local management.
* Demonstrable experience of working with/for telecommunications operators or service partners.
